Every now and then, Scissortail is in the news, featured at a local event, or otherwise finding itself in the spotlight! When that happens, we’ll highlight it here.

Musician and dancer Jacob Chen wrote an article “Folk Song Fridays: Songs to Bring Close to Our Hearts” that was published in the CDSS Spring 2023 magazine.

University of Oklahoma student Lena Erickson wrote an essay about her experience at the Norman contra dance that was posted on the CDSS blog: “Math, Music, and Contra Dance,” December 11, 2014.

Oklahoma City International Folk Dancers were featured on “Adventures With Ashley,” on Freedom43 TV. Although the IFD group is not technically part of Scissortail, many dancers are active in both groups.

Perkins Stillwater Journal article, “New life for an old dance,” by Michelle Charles, 2013. Describes the Stillwater contra dance, which was founded by the OSU student group A Contra Affair: Traditional American Folk Dance, in 2011.
